The Dental Center of Northwest Ohio

In 1910 a group of dedicated volunteers from the Toledo Dental Society and the community wanted to provide dental care for children whose families could not afford it.  Those interested citizens developed and launched a dental clinic, and the Dental Dispensary was born in downtown Toledo.  In 1995 the named was changed to the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio to reflect the times and the area we live in.  In 2001 the Dental Center received a grant from the Anthem Foundation of Ohio to work with a community coalition to open a regional clinic in Findlay, Ohio.  In 1910 we had a total of 500 patients, and today we service over 20,000 total patients.  With our numbers still growing, we are striving to help those who cannot afford dental care.

With a deep commitment to prevention and education, the staff helps patients learn about proper oral care between dental visits.  Simple, consistent care may help prevent painful tooth decay and other dental problems, such as periodontal disease and gum infection.

Older adults benefit from our Mobile Services, which was started in 1986 with a grant from the United Way of Greater Toledo.  A licensed dentist, dental hygienist, and dental assistant provide cleanings, examinations, fillings, extractions, and denture services to more than 4,000 patients annually.  The mobile unit is on the road daily, visiting long-term care facilities and homebound patients.
