Every year in February, the Dental Center of NW Ohio partners with the Toledo Dental Society and the Ohio Dental Association to celebrate Give Kids A Smile® Day. On GKAS! Day, local dentists volunteer their time and expertise, at no cost, to treat children who otherwise would not have access to dental care. The Dental Center of NW Ohio hosts the event and the Dental Center staff offer their services along side volunteer dentists to serve anywhere between 200 and 350 children each year! In addition, GKAS! has expanded to the Owens Community College Dental Hygiene Program and the UTMC Dental Residency Program locations.
Nationally, the Give Kids A Smile® event is sponsored by the American Dental Association and was first developed to provide free, desperately-needed dental services to local qualifying children from low income families. American Dental Association (ADA) GKAS! website
